Using Trip History

Use Trip History functions on the map to monitor your fleet’s vehicle and asset activity to help determine job verification, efficient routing, vehicle incidents, and more.

Viewing Trip History

Trip History allows you to view your fleet’s daily travel history on the map. You can view trip history for multiple vehicles and/or assets at the same time.

To view trip history:

  1. From the map, click the History tab.
  2. Click on the vehicle(s) and/or asset(s) you would like to view.
    The playback bar will appear at the bottom of the map with the selected vehicle(s) and/or asset(s) daily trip history.
  3. Click the calendar button () or date arrows to choose a specific date to view trip history.
  4. If you would like to change the playback speed, click the Timeline Settings button () in the right corner of the playback bar then click Playback speed. You can adjust the speed at: .5x, Normal, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x.
  5. You can also use the following toggle buttons available in Timeline settings to adjust the playback view: Keep selection in view, Show trips, and Snap to road.
  6. Once selected, click the Play button () to playback the vehicle(s) and/or asset(s) trip history.

Viewing Violations

As part of trip history, you can also view driving violations related to specific trips.

Violations types include:

  • Distracted
  • Follow Distance
  • Hard Acceleration
  • Seatbelt
  • Speeding
  • Traffic Violations

Violation Icon Legend

Please refer to the legend below to better understand the violations that may appear in vehicle trip history.

Viewing Camera Events

If your organization includes cameras, you have access to camera events. Camera events give you insight into real-time triggered violation events.

To view camera events:

  1. From the map, click the History tab.
  2. Click on the vehicle(s) you would like to view.
    The playback bar will appear at the bottom of the map with the selected vehicle(s) daily trip history.
  3. Click the calendar button () or date arrows to choose a specific date to view trip history.
  4. Once the selected trip history opens, enabled camera events will appear over the timeline.
  5. From here, click on a camera event to view real-time video of when a violation occurred.

Basic Tier Instructions

If you are a customer on the Basic tier, please use the instructions provided below. Click on the title to expand the window to view.

Historical vehicle activity is viewable on the map and in reports. On the map, you can viewhistory detail for one vehicle (custom date range), or you can turn on trails to view a snapshot of recent vehicle history for multiple vehicles (one hour).

View History Detail on the Map (One Vehicle)

Vehicle history provides a visual representation of logged activity for a custom date range. By default, all historical activity on is dynamically snapped to roads.

To view vehicle history:

  1. From the map, Search Results tab, or Vehicles tab, click a vehicle.
  2. Click History.

The historical activity appears for the current day (default).

  1. Use the date picker to choose a custom date range.

Limit historical range to one week.

 

History Notation:

On the History tab, logged activity is indicated by movements and stops. Stops are numbered according to the order in which they occurred within the selected date range.

0012 Stopped >= 60 min

0013 Stopped < 60 min

0014 Idling >= 3 min

0015 Moving

  • Hover over a stop to view its location on the map.
  • Click a stop to view details about stop duration, time, and location.

On the map, stops are clustered for easier viewing. The number on a stop cluster indicates the number of stops in that cluster. The stop types in each cluster are indicated by color and sector size.

  • Hover over a stop cluster to view details about the stops it contains.
  • Click a stop cluster to zoom in on the stops it contains.

Stop Notes:

Stop notes allow drivers to add notes about various stops (e.g., “Customer was not home for delivery.”). Drivers can send notes to 477-477 via SMS if their number is associated with the vehicle. You can view/edit/add individual stop notes within the History tab, and you can also see stop notes applicable reports (i.e., Stop Notes Report).

To view a stop note:

  1. From the Vehicle Card, click History.
  2. From the History tab, click one of the stops you want to view. (Stops are either blue, yellow, or red.)
  3. Click Stop Notes.

If note(s) were added for that stop, they appear in the Stop Notes card and Stop Notes tab.

  • Click the stop note, and click Edit to edit the text in the stop note.
  • Click Add Stop Note to add a new stop note.

Notes that were added from SMS are indicated by a mobile phone icon, and they also appear in the Mobile Communications tab for that vehicle.

View History Trails on the Map (Multiple Vehicles)

Historical trails provide a snapshot of vehicle activity for the last hour. You can find the Trails button on the Map Toolbar.

  • 0018 Trails Disabled

If you have a large number of vehicles on the map, you may want to filter the map by a particular vehicle group before turning on history trails. If you do not see any history trails on the map, the selected vehicles have not updated their locations in the last hour. To view detailed history for multiple vehicles, upgrade to the Pro product.
